The strength of the building trades has always depended on the people who choose to build their careers with us. That is why recruitment and apprenticeship remain at the core of everything we do.

Apprenticeship is more than training. It is a pathway to a lifelong, family-supporting career.

Through apprenticeship, individuals earn while they learn and develop the skills that keep our industry strong and our communities growing.

We are committed to expanding opportunities in our trades, including actively recruiting women into the construction workforce. Increasing female participation is not just important for equity. It is also critical to economic growth. It strengthens our industry, brings new perspectives, and better reflects the communities we serve.

Supporting, mentoring, and retaining our workforce is just as important as recruitment. Every apprentice and journey worker deserves access to the guidance, resources, and encouragement needed to succeed and build a lasting, fulfilling career.

The Building Trades Council of South-Central Wisconsin is proud to maintain strong relationships with organizations dedicated to supporting women in construction. As a board member of EmpowHER, I am especially proud to be part of an organization that connects women in the trades to mentorship, shared experiences, and opportunities to grow professionally and as leaders.
