Description
The CCL is one of the most diversified trades worker.
You will find the CCL in the trenches, tunnels, highways,
bridges, buildings, pipelines, and the environmental
projects. The CCL is usually the first on a project and the
last to leave. One day you could be digging in a trench and
the next working on a new building doing mason tending,
mixing concrete.
Working Conditions
Physically demanding work involving stooping,
lifting, standing for long periods of
time,
indoors and outdoors. Rain or shine at times.

Qualifications

Applicants shall not be less than 18 years of age. Proof
of age is required.

All
applicants must take the
Accuplacer test. Following
benchmarks must be met: Arithmetic 35, Reading 55.

They
must have reliable transportation to job site and
training.

They
must have the physical ability to perform the work of the
trade with or without reasonable accommodations.
Application Process

Fill
out an application with the Local Union Hall.

Take
the
Accuplacer test.
-
Oral
interview upon passing Accuplacer test
-
Candidates placed on a rank list.
-
Candidate top of rank list placed with contractor upon
request.
Terms of
Apprenticeship
-
4,000 hours of on the job training.
-
400
hours of classroom instruction (paid)
-
First 6 months are a probationary period.
-
Wage scale systematically increases throughout the
apprenticeship.
